Cesspool & Septic FAQs
Honest answers to the questions homeowners ask most. When in doubt, just call Rob.
How often should I pump my cesspool?
Most Suffolk County homes should have their cesspool pumped every 3–5 years. The right frequency depends on household size, system age, and usage habits. Rob can give you a personalized recommendation after a quick inspection.
Do I need a cesspool inspection when buying a home?
Absolutely. A septic inspection is one of the most important pre-purchase checks you can make. A failing system can cost $10,000 or more to replace. Rob provides thorough inspections timed to real estate closing schedules.
How long does a cesspool pump-out take?
Most residential pump-outs take between 1–3 hours depending on system size and how full it is. Rob will give you a realistic timeframe when you schedule the service.
What are the signs my cesspool needs service?
Slow drains, gurgling pipes, sewage odors in or around your home, wet or soggy spots in the yard over the cesspool area, and backups in toilets or sinks are all warning signs. Don’t wait — call Rob as soon as you notice any of these.
What's the difference between a cesspool and a septic tank?
A cesspool is an older system — a buried pit where waste is collected and partially absorbed into the surrounding soil. A septic tank is a newer, two-stage system that separates solids, treats liquid waste, and disperses it through a leach field. Rob can explain both and help you understand which system you have.
Do you offer same-day or emergency service?
Yes. Call Rob directly at 631-581-0036 and explain the situation. If it’s an urgent backup or overflow, he’ll do his best to get out to you the same day. That’s the advantage of calling the owner directly.
